Brandon Benjamin originally from Steenberg / Retreat near Muizenberg in the Cape Peninsula recently became the the first person of colour to win the national surf title.
On Sunday 27 August 2017 the 22-year-old became the 52nd South African Men's Surfing Champion when he won the title at Buffalo City, but with hardly any media coverage and sponsorship to cover his costs, it's an uphill battle for the new champion to fulfill his dream of competing on the professional circuit.
