Very often we get caught up in the cycle of negativity by seeking to habitually find fault with government. Of course this is not unique to South Africa as ALL governments the world over are far from perfect and so it is our right as responsible citizens to keep government in check by constantly reminding them of their shortcomings. When they get things right though, I think we should commend them and patb them on the back.

The Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) has recently launched Operation Bhadala, a campaign aimed at ensuring that all suppliers who have rendered services to GPG up to 30 June 2009 are paid by 30 September 2009. The War Room, a task team of representatives from all departments has been set up and is now fully functional.

All activities for Operation Bhadala are monitored closely on a daily basis and progress is reported on a weekly basis. Through the campaign, GPG has managed to pay a total of R182million during the first week of Operation Bhadala.

In this recessionary period with negative cash-flows and whatnot, this is no doubt a welcome relief to cash-strapped service providers who render services to the provincial government.
