RLabs InnovIA applications are OPEN!

Applications for the RLabs Innovation Incubator and Accelerator InnovIA) 2016 programme opened on 18 December 2015, and will close on Friday, 29 January 2015.
Aspirant social innovators and entrepreneurs who are passionate about making a difference in the world and building scalable social enterprises are invited to apply online via

The RLabs InnovIA programme, now in its 5th year offers an exciting and invaluable opportunity for innovators and social entrepreneurs to grow and build their enterprises. This 12 week programme is designed to assist participants during their start-up's most vulnerable period, and support taking an idea or product to market.

Applicants will be subjected to a selection process, and if successful, will be expected to commit themselves (or one team member) to the 12 week programme.

Through the InnovIA programme RLabs have been able to nurture the development of 47 social innovations and startups, helping them develop and grow during the start-up period.
The InnovIA programme is set to continue in its efforts to develop and grow high impact social enterprises.

The RLabs InnovIA programme gave birth to, among others:

Zlto ( – The rewards currency platform that have already issued more than US$200,000 in rewards since its inception. This solution aims to mobilize youth to do good work in their communities and then enable them to spend the rewards through a mobile wallet that contains Zlto that can be spent at selected merchants.

UUSI ( - A jobs search engine that have supported more than 50,000 people to access jobs and economic opportunities since its inception.

BBC Minute CatchUP ( is a player that sits on your web browser and provides a 60 second news bulletin every half an hour.
It’s the first pilot to come out of the Connected Studio, World Service partnership programme.

Partnering with the InnovIA programme, among others, Silicon Cape, The Bandwidth Barn, Accenture Skills to Succeed, and the MTN Solution Space (UCT Graduate School of Business) to ensure the successful development and implementation of youth lead innovations.The programme will harness the wealth in experience and resources of all its partners to deliver a programme that will see youth excel in entrepreneurship and social innovation.

Applications close on Friday, 29 January 2016 and the first cohort will start on leap day, 29 February 2016.
