(The must-see Dance Event of 2013 but for those of you who can't make it to this awesome Dance Theatre Production, read below how You can also be a part of it. - Editor)

Last year Emile YX? & Heal the Hood, with the help from the British Council, created the concept "Mixing it Up", combining traditional dance styles like Gumboots, Pantsula, Sibujwa, Zulu traditional, Cape Jazz, Namastap, Kofifi and Rieldans with HIP HOP and coming up with something completely different and new.

This year, on the 26 and 27 July at The Artscape Theatre they decided to tell a story called "BREAK", which symbolizes the intention of breaking from the norm of copying American Hip Hop as is and creating something with more of an African flavour. BREAK also refers to the trance of our common South African and Human ancestors, the Bushman. The story follows a dancer through the search for identity and then search for originality and individuality. This journey will create a production that will give young dancers to travel internationally to showcase what they create.

South African Hip Hop Dancers should not miss this production. It is a revolutionary introduction to a new way of the world looking at what comes from South Africa. All the music in the production is also from Cape Town.

Elvis Sibeko who is a Company Dancer at Jazzart Dance Theatre had this to say about Break: "The production will not only inspire SA hip hop dancers but it will make a wake up call to all SA dancers & dance supporters not to focus on what they don't have but to take what they originally have & be proud to show the whole world the beauty of South Africa... Can't wait!"

There is also an appeal from Heal The Hood for people who can afford it, to sponsor a ticket or two for any of the up to 1500 kids who genuinely can't afford going to the theatre.
