That Bushman's CrazyWritten by Charles Ash
You haven’t seen crazy until you’ve seen this bushman on stage.
Robby Collins presents his highly anticipated debut one-man show, That Bushman’s Crazy, at the Joburg Theatre (The Fringe) on the 1st and 2nd of November, 2013.
It promises to be a world-class stand up comedy event from this razor sharp funny-man who has shared the stage with SA`s biggest acts and who is widely regarded as the next big thing in local comedy.
Hard-hitting and always current, Collins’ show is both an autobiographical journey exploring his days growing up in Durban, as well as an observation of life in modern South Africa. Collins’ style is innovative and he pulls no punches in addressing everyday issues in a way you’ve never heard before.
In an explanation of the show’s title, Collins likens himself to a Kalahari Bushman – just as Bushmen are made to adapt to the harsh environment of the Kalahari, so Collins has had to adapt to the world around him, playing the role of the social commentator amidst ‘the madness of it all’.
That Bushman’s Crazy is loud and in your face while remaining perceptive and thought provoking throughout ¬– a truly unmissable performance from a class-act comedian.
Robby Collins recently featured on Comedy Central Live at Parkers Comedy Club and also toured extensively with comedy heavyweight Trevor Noah on his That’s Racist tour as well as It’s My Culture. Collins has also worked as a writer on the Late Night News show with Loyiso Gola and he lists Richard Pryor and Dave Chappelle as two of his biggest comic influences. He says that Pryor’s early work went a long way to shaping his early career.
