Global Hip Hop Headliners Fabolous, Dave East, 6fo and six other international acts will join local talents WizTheMisfit, Youngsta CPT, Mayo Da Great and 12 more local artists on stage for one night only at a Hip Hop Festival on the Cape Flats.

Presented by the Cape Town-based indie label SecondFam Entertainment and American-based music and events company Make a Bag Flash, The BiggerThanYouBiggerThanMe (#BTYBTM) Festival takes place on 22 October at the Athlone Stadium and will showcase the four expression and performance Elements of Hip Hop: Deejaying, Breakdancing, Graffiti and Rap music.
A Surprise Additional International Headline Act will be announced closer to the event date.

What will arguably be the Biggest International Hip Hop Festival to ever hit Cape Town, the proceeds of the event will power WizTheMisfit’s #BTYBTM campaign and SecondFam Entertainment’s Community Unity projects. Both initiatives seek to “instead of handing the man a fish, teaching him how to fish” through community initiatives that empower youth from economically disadvantaged communities with important life and social skills.

According to campaign co-founder WizTheMisfit #BTYBTM draws inspiration from the late Nipsey Hussle’s The Marathon Continues movement, which sought to “inspire, motivate and educate people of colour. Although Nipsey had gang ties, he used his time on earth to unite gangs and have them work together for the improvement of the community.”

“My late father was a gang leader and was imprisoned for committing a double homicide. When he was released, I was 13 years old and he ingrained in me that I shouldn’t aspire to be like him because gangsterism ruined his life. With this movement I’m working towards breaking that generational curse to create a better future for my son,” WizTheMisfit explains.

One of the headline acts, Harlem-based American rapper, songwriter, and actor Dave East was a close friend of Hussle. He pays tribute to his slain friend on the track The Marathon Continues (Nipsey Hussle Tribute on his debut album Survival.

The theme song for the event, Bon Appetit by WizTheMisfit, Mayo Da Great & KDO can be heard on The Black Rose Album mini documentary that is currently available via WizTheMisfit’s YouTube and Facebook channels.
The mini documentary also introduces viewers to SecondFam’s #BiggerThanMeBiggerThanYou campaign, and includes interviews with WizTheMisfit and Mayo.

Aside from the total of 18 Local & International Support Acts which is already a huge lineup, we at Bruinou.com are sure that having big names like Fabolous, Dave East, 6fo, WizTheMisfit, Youngsta CPT, Mayo Da Great and the Surprise International Headliner on one stage will be worth what seems like a fairly hefty ticket price.
We know that Make a Bag Flash has been making some big moves over the pond so that Surprise Headliner isn't just gonna be any small fry.
Of course it will all be for a great cause to support projects that are already making an impact on the Cape Flats.

A limited number of Early Bird festival tickets are already on sale at a reduced price, and can be purchased at Ticket Master.
