Why are Coloured Women so Angry?
Nadine has been asking herself this question since she was a little girl.
Now as a woman she shares some of the conclusions she has reached,
I Am Not Your Weekend Special
by Nadine Dirks
Growing up in a Coloured area, with many women of colour, I’ve always wondered one thing, “Why are women of colour so angry?”. As a child, it always seemed unclear to me, there wasn’t one clear outlying reason for their anger, yet they all seemed to carry it on their weathered faces, as they went about their day.
THE STATE OF THE SO-CALLED COLOURED NATION IN SOUTH AFRICA
In this opinion piece by Brian Ebden, he addresses the dire issues facing the Coloured population group of South Africa and more particularly those living in the Westren Cape and in doing so challenges the policies of both the two main political parties in the country.
Brian Ebden writes in his own personal capacity and the opinions held in this article are not necessarily that of Bruinou.com or our editorial team.
THE STATE OF THE SO-CALLED “COLOURED” NATION IN SOUTH AFRICA:
MOST PERSECUTED – MOST FRAGILE AND AT-RISK COMMUNITY IN THE COUNTRY
by Brian Ebden
While it is critically important that a united and detribalised front is evidentally necessary to eradicate white supremacist hegemony in the country, it can never be achieved in the short to medium term if the 2nd largest cultural group suffers from massive debilitating issues. The saying that collective strength is only measured by its weakest link rings true in this instance.
Is an Independent Western Cape Viable?
In this opinion piece on Politicsweb.co.za RW Johnson, author of the book 'How Long Will SA Survive?', discusses whether the Western Cape could ever go it alone.
We at Bruinou.com do not necessarily support or condemn the idea, but we do realise that the topic of the province possibly seceding from the Union of South Africa, or gaining more autonomy in a federal system, is one that is discussed by people from all walks of life. We are also aware that currently there are organisations, political parties and thought leaders who are having serious discussion about the idea of an independent Western Cape.

Brown Baas Defined - The Dope Saint Jude Story
Her colourful use of language ranging from college kid posh English, to urban English, to Afrikaaps and Gayle all mixed together at the same time which is sort of her own version of a modern-day Fanagalo, makes her already potent style of rhyme delivery stand out from the rest of anything we've heard from anyone else before.
Dope Saint Jude has a definite plan to not just be another flash in the pan.
OK, for those of you who don't have a clue what Gayle is, we'll explain that later, but this sassy, witty and daring artist is more than just an MC trying to make it big in the entertainment industry.
I can be Coloured and Black at the same damn time - #ColouredExcellence
Charles Ash, founder of Bruinou.com, contends that celebrating one’s Coloured identity does not go against Black Consciousness – it is in fact an embodiment of it.
Ash along with Aasia Fredericks, an Influencer and Social Media Manager from Cape Town who is also a member of Bruinou.com were among those interviewd by Mohammed Jameel Abdulla of The Daily Vox following all the controversy of the #ColouredExcellence hashtag celebrating Wayde van Niekerk's Olympic Gold Medal win and his new World Record set in the Mens 400m race.

Blikkiesdorp Children Denied Access to Education
We have for the past few years been saying that there is nothing temporary about the abomination called the Symphony Way Temporary Relocation Area or as it is better known, Blikkiesdorp. Even if the people are moved to proper housing in the near future, they will be permanently stuck with all manner of scars.
As if suffering the indignation of being forced to move there is not enough, a further clear violation of human rights, specifically children's rights is happening right under our noses as there are, according to the children's rights charity Molo Songololo, at least 43 children in Blikkiesdorp who are being denied enrolment in school.

Members of the Patriotic Alliance (PA) on Wednesday 15 June stormed into the hall where Western Cape premier and former DA leader Helen Zille’s was addressing a meeting as part of her election blitz in Eersterust, Pretoria.
Outside the hall PA leader Gayton Mckenzie, who did not enter the hall during the disruptions, made reference to the DA having spent miilions on a new City of Cape Town logo but are not assisting families like in the case where eight children recently perished in a backyard dwelling fire in Michell's Plain.
