Two people were killed and five injured, including an 8-year-old girl, in three shooting incidents in Hanover Park on Thursday.

Western Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut said all three incidents took place on Thursday morning, hours apart from each other.
"A 23-year-old man was shot and wounded at the bus terminus in Hanover Park at 05:15 by an unknown suspect who fled the scene," Traut said.

We have for the past few years been saying that there is nothing temporary about the abomination called the Symphony Way Temporary Relocation Area or as it is better known, Blikkiesdorp. Even if the people are moved to proper housing in the near future, they will be permanently stuck with all manner of scars.

As if suffering the indignation of being forced to move there is not enough, a further clear violation of human rights, specifically children's rights is happening right under our noses as there are, according to the children's rights charity Molo Songololo, at least 43 children in Blikkiesdorp who are being denied enrolment in school.

As communities, parents and families we all have a responsibility to be vigilant about the crime of child trafficking and we should all be sensitising our children to these dangers.
A mass panic has however hit the Western Cape with a slew of hoax reports causing widespread consternation.

With the First and Only confirmed attempted kidnapping case registered with the SAPS in Strand on 1 June 2016 when a 10 year old girl was approached by a woman in a Toyota Quantum, hoax sightings of the vehicle and the woman circulated on social media and tabloid newspapers has Western Cape parents in a panic.
